Hi all, new here. Couple questions. My set up is a 30 gallon, what I want for now is FO seeing its my first tank. I have a Wisper Filer for 40 gallons, SeaClone 100 skimmer, heater rated for my size tank, and a Marine Glow light. I don't have any live rock because I was told my lighting wasn't suffcient. Subsrate is just fine sand. I started it for two weeks simply adding Cycle then I have had two damsels for 4 weeks. I have yet to see any real big spikes in my levels or drops. Ph is fine, ammonia is pretty steady at about 1.0 ppm, nitrite 1.0 ppm and nitrate about 30. What suggestions could you give me to make sure I am doing things right. What else should I do or add. I am open to anything. Thanks, wish me luck. Hope the pic works. 200kb is hard to get a pic down to with Paint. Thanks

    Andrew

The rocks are just some real pours stuff to the left of the tank more like little caves for hiding on the right is a fake rock that i thought they might like to swim through it :)

    Hey cpandrewschmidt, Welcome aboard!!!

I don't imagine you will get much of a cycle because you are not using Live Rock (Rock from the ocean). I don't think this will be much of a problem for you because you have a filter. You will just have to be careful not to have too high a bio load (too many fish) for the filter you have. you may want to add a small amount of live rock in the future as it will turn the rock you have into live rock over time.

    Again Welcome

    Jason

Hey, thanks all. Just one thing, will live rock continue to grow or just die off since my light isnt very strong? pretty sure its only rated at 15w or something low like that. Evenentually Ill upgrade, but I just want to get used to this whole thing. What kind of filter would you recommend for my set up? Thanks

LR doesn't care about light. Now you may fine you can't grow the cool colours in Coraline Algea but the LR is functioning just the same with out it.
