So this weeked I picked up a pair of clowns at my Lfs. They said they were wild Ocellaris clowns from the Solomon islands. Well they do look just like Ocellaris besides they are both missing their third strip. I was wondering if this is a different type of clown or if some variation of an Ocellaris that is caught off of the Solomons.

Could be young fish. They get 3rd stripe has they grow. How big? Snap some pics? Is one fish significantly bigger? If not then they are not a pair. The female always bigger. If young fish then most likely not pair and both still male although they should pair eventually since one of them will become female.

They are both pretty small maybe 1 and 1/2 inches. One is larger than the other and the Lfs said they were a pair and they do appear to have already paired. The Lfs had five or six of these clowns without the third stripe, but the ones I got were the only ones that appeared to have paired. The smaller one's would be middle stripe has a very slight irregular shape on one side similar to a Picasso or snowflake. I will try to get some clear pictures, but they do not like to sit still for the camera lol. I also forgot to mention the tail has no black edging.

I thought they could be misbar as well, but when I looked them up they look as though they don't have a complete middle strip. These are missing a strip altogether.

Yeah I did some more research and thats what they seem to be. I really like them. Fatties as well they eat so much! actually all my fish are fat, every time I look at them they have food babies lol. I only feed them every other day, and not that much either. The one on the right of both pictures jumped :( I guess I may get the other a new mate.
