Bought my first SW fish today, 2 juvenile clownfish sold as true percula, not that I dont trust the store but I don't always trust their suppliers. If it helps with a positive ID, these guys are very active and swimming back and forth exploring the top of the tank and playing in the current. They almost seem hyperactive Im not sure if its because theyre new, but I am thinking it at least means theyre healthy.

    I'm counting 10 spines, so It's a perc.

I believe I already answered you in another thread, but just look at the eyes. If there is an orange ring around the eye, then it is a perc. If the eye is solid black, it is an occy. The spine count is a good method, but not always accurate from what I have been told and I have never heard of occy's being "brighter" then percs. My percs are actually brighter then my occy's are honestly.

I really want to say occy as well, but I can't see the eyes good enough.

I wanna say perc. Much darker black's around the stripes than my Occ.

I see where you are going with that, but the black gets darker with age. This technique all depends on age, and I can't tell big those guys are. ;D

I always have trouble trying to distinguish them.
