Just set it up.. am getting a lot a lot of bubbles both bigger and micro. Did i set it up wrong? No instruction so I kind of just went by pack-leaders review. The water is just above the pump in the first chamber I think thats right. Is there anything i can do to reduce the amount of bubbles?

Just give it a little bit and it will calm down. Make sure your running the foam in the return chamber, and that you don't have the cup set too low. A good starting point with the cup is so that the bottom of the cup lines up with the top of the black bracket that clamps to the tanks lip

Do i have the bracket on wrong... If the bottom of the cup lines up with the top of the black bracket i have about 1/2 inch in between before the water level. Is that right?

Yep. The water level has nothing to do with cup height... The FOAM level does ;) The foam will rise MUCH higher than the actual water level. Set it up with the bracket as I suggested, then give it 24 hours and see how it does for you

Yes, the bubbles will build up to there.

I don't know how Pack means exactly on the black sponge thing, I actually wedged mine between the wall and the outlet so it completely covers the opening. Not sure if Pack means like that or just putting it in there below it.

I did it this way for two reasons. One, I filled up the lower part of this chamber with LR rubble (which I think is awesome) and the upper part has my heater, so I had to arrange it so that it wasn't touching either of these. Why? Just how I am :p

I ALSO had to extend my air intake tube so that the silencer would reach the T on the return. If I take that out, my bubbles increase dramatically. So try that too.

I followed this same wonderful advise. I ended up needing my cup about 1/4 inch higher than the spot mentioned. This works wonderfully. Now my skimmate smells horrible. Hurray!

(Oh, I have same skimmer too and I also used Pack's review)

Yeah i actually went of your thread too Predhil..sorry for the no mention.. Yeah ill just have to mess around with it to see what works best. Also do you guys use tap water condition or R/O? because in the other thread about overflowing because of the aloe vera. Im guessing i should search for a condition that doesn't have that in it.

I do not use the aloe vera one, I did see the thread you are referring to... and frankly, it makes no sense to me that any additive would cause a skimmer to overflow... I just don't understand how that could possibly be (I am NOT saying it isn't true, I am saying it doesn't make sense to me). The only way I can picture this is if you were to add soap. The way a dishwasher will overflow if you use hand liquid soap... But, obviously...

Anyway, I do use conditioned water (I am rebuilding my wet bar so I can get an RO/DI unit) and have no issues. I did fill up fast once and Pack indicated I was wet skimming - which is to say my cup was too low. But I caught it quick enough (thanks to having a young baby that wakes up in the middle of the night and a wife that is willing to check for jumpers (fish) and overflows when I first add things when it's her that gets up middle of night ;D). Moving cup UP solved this and produced nice, stinky, dark skimmate.

As long as the water flows through it before entering the return pipe it doesnt matter where it is in the chamber. It actually serves 3 functions that cut down on bubbles: Raises the water level, generally helps trap/eliminate bubbles, and slows the flow.
I use conditioned tap. I use Prime as a conditioner, and have no problems with it overflowing.
