Octopus seems to have a good name and people seem to like them I have never heard of the other company. Protien skimmers are the heart of our systems.... Many forget this.

If i were to get the octo, is it a good skimmer for $160?

EDIT: let me rephrase that, i got the octo, is it a good skimmer for the money? I ordered it like 2 days back but i just got an email saying its on backorder so i figured nows the time to change my mind.

I am partial to pm they have been good to me. I know the redline series has a model in that size also. I think it might even be cheaper. I have really heard good things about Octopus skimmers too. If it was me this is how I would lean. I just ordered a pm redline for my 35 gallon red sea max I have that im building a sump and refugium for.

i was considering both of these as well. the problem w/ the Magus was the site recommended 10 inches of water in the sump. i only had 7 or so. got the octo 110. no complaints. it does a good job pulling stuff out.

one highlight is that it's basically plug and play.
