SO today I bought a starry blenny, and acclimated him into the tank, when i first let him in, he went right to the bottom, didnt move too much for the first hour, then started hopping onto the rocks and swimming around, which seemed normal, well when my daylight turned off, and moonlights came on, he became ALOT more active but now hes swimming back and fourth, diving into the sand, and would like swish around in the sand then takes a break. is this normal behavior or is something wrong?

Its almost like hes rubbing himself in the sand??

I think he will be OK. He is still acclimating to the tank.

It sounds pretty normal to me my blenny scoots around on the sand alot then darts back and forth in my tank. The hops on the LR and jumps around for a bit he is looking for a home it sounds like.

I wouldnt really say hes scooting around in the sand, more like flopping back and fourth lol. he only does it for a second then stops and will go back and do it again

sounds like hunting pod behaviour also to me

swishing around in the sand in order to stir up the pods and peck them off

Yes, the chromatophore (color changing cells) of the starry blenny is really something to behold. I think this fish gets a lot less credit in the aquarium hobby than it deserves. Glad to hear it has acclimated nicely.
