I hear what you are saying Tangster...and you bring up a good point!!! All I am saying is that certain fish, expensive and more delicate, such as the Koran and the White Cheek, I feel are in dire straits given their circumstanses, whereas the hardier fish like damsels etc. are playing with house money, so to speak, and dealt a better hand!

You know what the road to hell is paved with.(GOOD INTENTIONS)
They are nice fish,a good price, and if they are saved from a slow death that's great. But to stop a store from stocking livestock that they haven,t the slightest idea of its needs by buying them?
For me, when I see the saltwater fish in not only that store, I shake my head and wonder how long they have to live. On the other hand, if it looks healthy and I can afford it Ill buy it.(I still shy away from PETCO)
Maybe a petition could get legal action against those stores that sell livestock on volume rather then the overall health and quality of the animal.
Hey their doing it with puppy mills!
Go save those fish anyway:clapping: :clapping:

That's not something I'd want to state on a public forum.

To be quite honest with you CR, I think you're doing the wrong thing by buying these fish or shopping at Petco at all for that matter. People have tried to get these stores to change their ways and have gotten nothing out of it but a boatload of frustration. If a radical group like PETA can't get them to change their ways, Joe Citizen certainly isn't going to fare any better. The only one who is benefitting from your purchase is Petco. :(

The reason why petco has the tank sale this weekend is becuase they are opening more stores around the country. The issue at the local petco here is they keep changing managment. The guy who orders there now was talking about ordering lionfish and other non reef safe fish. I informed him about the side effects of that. Some idiot will buy it cause its cool looking and then come back complaining about it eating all of his fish. Back when I worked at the LFS, I got a orange toadfish that went to 6 buffets(bought and returned 6 times cause it ate the other tank mates). It was given to me and he got his own species tank at my house and he lived a long happy life.

The bottom line is you go there and buy it they will continue to sell it.. You pay 39.00 for a fish its sold they make 400% profit so they put 200% back into new fish for you to buy . They get loads of free word of mouth advertising by you guys talking bad about them also. Looks there is no such thing as bad publicity ..
I don't no of any Pet-co in Richmond that sells marine fish any longer no market as Up here in Ct they was one that sold a few But last I heard they did not carry them any longer either. If people did not buy green beans ten the giant would stop putting them into cans .. No good deed goes unpunished.. So by doing what some feel is the right thing all they are doing is creating a demand for the supply.. Hell as for Korean angels or hippos they are food to many places of the world just like any other food fish. If it makes y'all feel good then keep it up if not just let it be. But if you buy it they will restock it called Capitalism 101.
