This is my view of modified "tuner" cars personified into a youtube video by one of my favorite video guys on youtube. If that made sense. :D

Honestly, it looked like the guy was having a really hard time keeping up. Still funny tho.

Meh, you have it on both sides of car world.

I have built/owned and even daily driven some scary fast imports, and even in the Honda world it isn't uncommon to see dumb-light cars putting laying down serious power. It just happens that the ricer-twits make everyone look bad. You see the same thing all the time with the domestics, in upstate NY I see way more mullet-engineered heaps on the road then F&F rejects :)

    Thats hilarious!

I used to have an 89 Mercury Grand Marquis. Absolute mint condition, I loved that car. Now, I personally can't stand those crappy little "tuner" cars, they're almost never presentable and look stupid and have the power of a modified weed wacker. Well, I pulled up to a light next to some dudes that thought they were all bad ass with one of those half (never) finished cars with a gigantic fin, 20 colors (mostly different variations of primer and bondo) - they saw my car, and thought it was funny and started revving their engine - it had one of those noisy mufflers - the car sounded like it was farting. I laughed when I laid down a strip of rubber through the intersection and left them in my dust.

My 1999 Subaru Forester can keep up with some of the "modded" cars. It kept up with a classmate's dodge neon anyways. That stupid car has a fin, "special" wheels, and cold air intake and whatever other crap he has under the hood, and I was faster than him on the start. He caught up and got to the next traffic light by about a car's length. His spiffed up ride may be faster, but at least I have better clutch control :D (hence why I beat him at the start. Plus I don't burn rubber with all wheel drive. :))
