I'm curious what operating system everyone is running. I'm currently running Windows 7 and was disgusted to find that 100 Gb of my hard drive is partitioned for "system stability". So that's why their new system doesn't crash as much. Anyway I'm download Mac OS X Snow Leopard as I type this.

What are you running and are you happy with it?

I am running Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux and am playing with Google's Chromium a little. Mainly use Windows 7 though because the wife hates trying to figure out Linux because she says it is "weird." My install of windows didn't partition any of my harddrive for "system stability" though...thats weird.

I fix computers so I have run most all operating systems. I like what they have done with windows 7 but I did a custom install to make full use of my drive. Windows vista was ok after SP2 came out.

I didn't care for vista at all. It came preinstalled on my laptop and when I first got the computer it crashed on me the first day and gave me problems ever since untill I installed Windows 7.

rodcpierce: Most good Linux distrobutions will have most of the drivers you need. You will need to do some reading about linux before you go diving in just to make sure you have an idea of what you are doing. They are getting easier and easier to use though. If you want to try one I would recomend OpenSuse or Ubuntu. Best part about Linux is it is almost always free to download.

I've also used Ubuntu. I agree it's a very easy intuitive install. If Linux was more industry standard I would switch to that. IMO Ubuntu installs and runs smoother than any Windows I've ever run.

From everyones replies about Windows 7, it sounds like it may just be the way my computer came factory loaded. I'm going to give OS X a shot and if it doesn't work to my liking I'll load Windows 7 to my specs.

    Thanks for all the replies.

i'm happiest with OS X - all my personal computers and my office desktop are macs. All other work computers use XP, which is the best windows i've used. One of our new office computers has vista, and everyone (even windoze geeks) hate it. Looking forward to trying out W7.

Linux would be great (esp Ubuntu) but it's still much too easy to have a major crash and lose everything unless you have the time/skill set to be able to go under the hood and pick up pieces after a bad update. After a few of these events with several distributions (ub, debian, gnome), I've given up on having a useful linux box in my house.

Im actually pretty happy with Windows 7. Not sure why it used up 100gb??? I have used Linux(fedora) before and its nice, but i just like how easy windows is.

Windows 7 sure is preeety, Mac still wins though ;) **My desktop**

I have a Macbook Pro (aluminum unibody) running snow leopard and windows 7 professional. I like both and use each consistently. I never had any 100 gigs taken for system stability, not sure why that would have happened to you. I really like both.
