While many casual boxing fans are saying it was dirty, many boxing experts are on Mayweather's side on this one. Many have said that Ortiz got what he deserved.
Dan Rafael of ESPN: Rafael On Mayweather's Win - ESPN Video - ESPN
Gabe Montoya of Maxboxing: Some might call what Floyd did a cheap shot. I call it instant karma. As Floyd just said "What goes around comes around."
Steve Kim at Maxboxing: I mean, seriously, if any other fighter, did what they did to Ortiz, people would applaud that fighter- because he deserved it
Jarrad Woods of Ringtalk: While I am disappointed in how the fight ended, I can’t say that Floyd’s two piece special was totally classless due to the reasons above. I am more surprised that Ortiz was unable to recover and that he planned on fouling his opponent in the first place in order to win. It obviously backfired and he has no one to blame but himself.
    My take on these events:

Last week I was listening to a reporter that said Ortiz, shortly after signing for the fight, told him his fight plan was to ruff Mayweather up with dirty tactics to frustrate him.

If you watched the Mayweather Ortiz face-off on HBO, near the end Mayweather told Ortiz, "If you make any mistakes, you have to pay." He repeated it over and over 4-5 times.

Ortiz backs Mayweather into the corner and unleashes one of the most blatant headbutts that I have ever seen in boxing. Unlike many watching the fight, I noticed that this was not the first attempt at that headbutt. When he finally landed it, the ref took a point away. Usually the ref warns a fighter several times before taking a point away but this was so blatant he took a point away immediately.

After the headbutt, the ref called time-out. Ortiz then tried to hug and kiss, yes he kissed, Mayweather to apologize. The ref took a point away, brought the fighters together, called time-in (at this time the ref is looking at the timekeeper to confirm the clock was restarted. At the same time Ortiz initiated trying to again tap gloves but then again attempted to hug Mayweather. If you watched it again, you can see that Mayweathers attempt is half hearted. Mayweather then puts his hands up to fight as Ortiz comes in for a hug. As Ortiz pulls back from the hug, Mayweather unleashes a left hook/straight right hand combo that floored Ortiz.

Did anyone believe that Mayweather was going to let a blatant headbutt go without getting back. Remember, if this was an accidental headbutt, I would understand if this was a unintentional but it was far from it. and as Mayweather said, "If you make a mistake, you have to pay."

Did you see Ortiz in the interview with ESPN. Does he not say he made simple mistakes and paid for it.

I think they should call it a draw and fine both parties, just my opinion.

Why, the only foul was Ortiz. He made a mistake and he had to pay! Just fast forward to 2:50.
