Okay so I finally thought I could buy my orphek led's, but during the interim I see from BoBo65 blog that there is a new light the maxspect. Bruh told me a couple of months ago he would also like to get LED's. So heres my question:

    1) Are the led lights by orphek in a canopy? Or are they individual pendant lights that you swivel around to where you need lighting?

    2) I looked at the maxspect on internet and they looked so small, how many of those little guys do you get for $2000? I have a 210 gal., 6 foot long tank. If I had to buy more than one I would be broke. lol

Well thanks for any help that anyone can shed on this lighting thing for me.

    1) Orphek makes lights that are a fixture and they also sell lights that are a pendent that can be swiveled around. If you click on the link, the website has most if not all of the lights that orphek offers.

As for Maxspect, i dont know much about them, but they are also on this site.

you could also do Boost led they are having a good special on there fixtures Mu Series 135W LED Module by BoostLED

and it will save you some money but for a tank that size 3-4 fixtures depending on how you place them IMO

Boy this whole lighting thing really sucks. I currently have MH and they are great. My electric company loves me.;D I was hoping that by switching to the LEDs I could still have great light and make the electric company not so happy. I had read several months ago that the wide angle is what I would need to buy. I just want to make sure that I don't jump from the frying pan into the skillet. This is quite another big investment. Ya know:-/ I sure appreciate the feedback. I would have thought that someone on this site would already have some of these up and running. I mean it seems they have been out awhile. But I can't seem to find anyone using them. I will try to pm the person suggested. Have a happy 4th. Hope to hear some more info. Always open for more help.

I started with the Orphek pr25's and ordered my pr156 last month. I really like it and recommend it. I had the opportunity to look at a lot of lights and did lots of research but kept coming back to Orphek due to quality of the diodes and the fact that they offer a better overall package.
My light arrived quickly and in perfect shape. My corals have done well with the acclimation.

Go with the new Maxspect LEDs. Orphek does make a few options that may suite your needs, but I have not heard the best things about their fixture units. They optics that focus a lot of PAR pretty deep, but don't spread well giving a huge amount of falloff right at the edge. This might make it hard to light such a huge footprint. When I look at LEDs, even if I'm looking at buying lower end, I always look at the best the company makes to get a feel for what the company has to offer. If you look at Maxspects high end lighting, they have some amazing features that few can touch.

That said, have you considered AI? Never heard a bad word about them other than them being back ordered.
