ok, I know this was bad not wearing gloves when I cleaned out my tank. This morning I woke up with pretty significant scrapes on my fingers from where I ran the razor blade down my overflow - it stings like it's still in saltwater. Does anyone have any advice on what to put on it to help with the pain?

Is it just small cuts from the razor, no urchin sting or anything like that? Are they red or pink around the cuts? You should clean it every couple hours with peroxide which will not help the pain, and if you get some neosporin type medicine, they make some with analgesic in, put that on it and maybe a bandaid until the ointment has had plenty of contact time and so you don't get ointment everywhere.

+1 on the peroxide and neosporin - get the neosporin that has the pain aid in it. and no playing with the tank today!

whoa! peroxide - I'll do that and you're right, just thinking of putting that on hurts. It's red around the scrapes - no urchin stings or anything. I'm just thinking it probably doesn't help that my hands were in water scrubbing in probably some nasty bacteria - I will not do that task again without gloves. On a side note, my tank looks great! :)

Keep us posted. Might try some tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain as well. Definitely the peroxide since it is red, that should clean the bacteria out of them but it will sting worse than it has hurt so far. But only for a moment.

took some ibuprofen when I got home. The peroxide hurt but it definitely feels better - had some polysporin but it didn't have the pain relief in it so hopefully the ibuprofen will help. Thanks for the advice!

If you think it may be something in your tank that caused it, i.e. sting of some kind, try vinegar, it helps break down the toxins.
