So we are starting to build our tank and it is finally coming together a bit. We are new to the salt water tank. Its pretty complicated but me and my husband are having fun with it. So far we have those two corals which I still dont know the names of, a shrimp, a sea anemone which is always looking sickly, a blue tang, two nemos, and some pink fish, 3 snails, 10 hermit crabs, 1 horse shoe crab which has been in hiding since we got him almost 2 months ago, and a feather duster which just recently lost his feathers.

Since we are so new to the hobbie, we have alot of questions. Any suggestions as to what every tank should have?

    How old is your tank?
What kind of lights do you have?
    Do you have a skimmer?
    Do you test your water?
If the Anemone looks sickly you may want to take it back because if it dies the whole tank dies with it.
That Tang and horse shoe crab both need a much bigger tank to be happy and healthy.
Other than that it looks nice. The corals look like Xenias. Very lovely.

To be honest with you, we purchased the tank as it came. The lights (two different bulbs ) are on a hood. Our tank is about two months old. Yes I know I probably sound ignorant but we havn't done much research until now. We are compulsive shoppers as you can see. We test our water at our local pet store. So far the owner says all our levels are good.

Your tank might be way to young for the anemone, I thinks its like a year or something before they should be added. How old is it.

Yea we bought that at another fish store because they were cheap and our local store told us he would have never sold it to us. Should we take him out?

nice start hialeah. but i do agree in regards to both the nem and hippo. you really should take them back for the reasons said. also do research before purchasing , saves alot of eadaches later on. but definitely keep your enthusiasm up and keep us up on any new additions and ask all the questions you want. thnx for sharing. :)

Usually if a LFS employee won't sell you something like that, it's for a reason. Search through the archives and you will see many threads on people loosing hundreds if not thousands of dollars because of a dying anemone.
He/she was probably just looking out for you.
When I asked what lights you have, do you know the type?
PC, t5, Halide and so on and so forth. If you're not sure, just post a pic and we can tell you.
If I can offer you any advice, the key to doing Saltwater the safe and smart way is READ READ READ and WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!;D
The more research you do the better and the more patience you have, the better your tank will be.

I agree with the above nems should not be bought till at least 6 months better off waiting a year, as far as hippos id say teh smallest tank(and it will still out grow this) would be a 75 at the very least
