    Hi,

I have a Saddle Clown, Trigger and a Hippo Tang one Cleaner Shrimp a Clam and a carpet Anemone in my tank how often should I feed my fish? I use frozen brime shimp and freeze dried Crill. How often should I add Micro Vert for my clam? Ive been feeding the fish once a day and adding a half a cap of Micro every other day. Everyone seems to be doing well but im getting a lot of green and red growth on my live rock. Am I over feeding?

    Thanks

I feed every second day and at times every third day.

Mysis, krill, and flakes are alternated on the feeding days. The only thing I repeat every second day is algae sheets for my tangs.

I used to feed every day but no more. It's been seven months on the alternate day pattern.

I wouldn't really worry about feeding your clam. They will receive most of their nutrients through their symbiotic single celled dinoflagellate known as zooxanthellae! What type of Tridacna clam do you have? What type of lighting do you employ?
As far as feeding goes, liquid foods do pose a problem of adding too many nutrients into your water column(pelagic area) thus increasing nitrates and phosphates spurring unwanted nuisance microalgae!
Best solution is to combine a little of the microvert into your frozen food as a soak then periodically 2-3 times a day add a small amount of food to your tank. Small multiple feeding is the key and don't be afraid to skip a day or so every now and then!
I would also employ a carbon regimine and efficient skimming to help to maintain water quality!

How often you feed is less important then how much you feed each time.

Kind of have to find by trial and error and what feels right.

I do very small amounts couple of times a day. Also try to do close to same times.

Never feed more then the fish can clean up in just couple of minutes.

Algae is a sure sign you are overfeeding.
