    My cpr overflow is rated for 300gph and when i asked my dad to run to the store and match the piping for the bulkhead. which isnt 3/4 inch by the way. He happened to lose the stiff clear tub with that black ring on top. Can the overflow function without it or should do something about it?

    That tube is made to burp the air that gets trapped. It's not "needed" though you can get any rigid tube to replace it, assuming it's the same O.D.
