Well as you guys probably know by now, i've been having some trouble with my firefish with hiding and not being able to get food in time. So today i tried something different. I turned off all pumps, and seriously WAY overfed. I don't like to overfeed but i decided to try it since i've been having some trouble. And between the overfeeding, turning off pumps, distracting the clowns, and putting food by his hiding area, it worked. shortly after i started to feed he came out and ate.

I know overfeeding is bad so i'm hoping this will only be a one time thing, i'm just glad my firefish ate tonight. I'm sure my skimmer will be skimming like crazy tonight and my inverts are going to be happy.

Now i'm hoping that on other feedings i can do the same thing but without overfeeding.

I think once she gets comfortable coming out and eating you will be able to stop feeding so much. I did that with my highfin perchlet because he was so shy. I overfed the first few days, and now he comes out and eats with everybody else.

Once Princess sees that coming out to eat is only good, she will have adjusted and everything can go back to like before!

P.S. I find that if my pumps, powerheads, etc. are all off my fish eat a lot better. I think the food moving around really fast stresses them out or something. You should keep turning off your pumps when you feed for your firefish.

yea, it really does, i just hate the fact of over feeding, but in this case i needed to and it paid off :)

And now, my firefish is actually out from hiding, even after it ate!

thanks, yea i think that's the same case with princess, very very shy fish so i'm glad to hear this method has worked for your fish.

And yea, i was so used to leaving pumps on because of my puffer, he loves to hunt so i just leave his equipment on and he's happy, i figured it was the same for other fish, guess not :)

    yea very relieved :)

I believe in your previous posts you mentioned some algae issues (cyno and GHA), this will really exacerbate those problems very quickly. Have you tried to target feed the fish with a turkey baster or something alone those lines?

yea i thought i remember seeing you posting a thread about the purchase and the price it cost ya....i admire you for spending that on such a cool fish...i wish my budget allowed me that lol Last thing you want to happen is have it die on ya simply because it wasn't eating and I bet you were getting pretty worried there for a bit. I get simply worried about my red scooter blenny not eating when I got him but I got him onto some frozen foods and that made me feel a ton better once I knew he was going to keep eating and I only spent $26.99 on him lol
