Is there any other choices beside CRP and LifeReef, which are pretty expensive. I told the wife i could do this for cheap and this is actually the biggest cost.

Also is Mineral Mud and Miracle Mud the same? YOu can buy Mineral Mud at MarineDepot for 19.99 a gallon?

    Hi Malachi....

I can't be sure....I got it 8 years ago and don't remember but it has a 1" drain fitting and I have a 58 gallon tank and I use a Mag 5 return pump. I have a ball valve on it but I can't remeber if I had to throttle the pump back a little or not (I am just setting everything back up)

    Darin

Now, I am not trying to be a smartypants....could you explain what make some overflow boxes worth more than others? They look very similar...I am just curious...and will be upgrading parts on my tank over the next year sooo....

I know nothing, i just know the flow range i need for my return pump. I have actually never got a close look at one to see how it is set up. I might run to my LFS and take a closer look to see if i can make one. Anyone have DIY for an overflow?

Basically the material used and some other minor details like the way the U tube is bent toavoid shrinkage in the bend diameter and things like that. Iam a detail freak so i tend to look at things more than the next person.
Sm overfws like the CPR need a pump to remove air that collects in the elbow. If the air i not removed it will evetually stop the siphon and the ovrflw will stop workng.
