I have two 1.5 inch over flow strainers on elbows as my over flows and they make a ton of noise. I have looked around and cant really find an answer to my problem, or really think of any idea's either. I have posted pics any help would be great.

make one your main and one your back up. On the main one you are going to want to add a gate valve (not a ball valve) then you can adjust the main one so it runs a full flow (by choking it down) and is not sucking air (mine still suck some but is quiet). You need the emergency overflow to be slightly higher than the main. I think it's called a bean or deroso overflow if you want to look it up. Reefsparky built one not too long ago and it seemed he knew a little more about it than me.

i dont know if this is true or not but i have heard that if you put tubing in the middle of the pipes it helps but im not sure.

ya there is a method of venting the air by putting tubing in it and adjusting it to the right level. I read it's finicky even if you get it dialed in right, I think people do that when they don't have the back up hole.

you want to match your main to your flow rate, so no it will not. I know I way over-sized my tubing, so I'm just chocking it down to match.
