i got an internal bubble magus-150 in my 55g sump and it keeps overflowing, regardless of how i set the gate valve.

its a new skimmer and a new tank. currently going through the Ncycle. lots of skimmate but there is tons of water in the collection cup causing the lid to open up and overflowing. i tried pouring it and restarting the skimmer, but same issue. water level is supposed to be between 9-13 inches for optimal performance and its sitting at 11".

im new to skimmers and the reef hobby so any help is appreciated. what is causing my skimmer to overflow ? itll overflow within 10 seconds of inital start.

I hate skimmers for this reason. had the same problem with an eShopps and SWC skimmer.

    1) don't run your skimmer during the cycle. You want all the stuff the skimmer is removing to decompose.

    2) After the cycle, open the gate valve all the way and have the water level of the skimmer run halfway up the body. Don't forget, air intake will control height of the water as well. You can also raise the skimmer itself. Every 24hours close the gate valve a little bit. The skimmer needs to break in. Film from the machining of the skimmer, and film on the glass is making the skimmer go nuts.
