Ok so I've started a 10 gallon nano project. Is this stand overkill lol?

looks awesome to me. Its built well incase u wanted to upgrade to a 20/29 later. U should see my stand, I went wayyyy overkill for my 40 gallon. I have 3 vertical 2x4's in each corner hahaha.

I would have done the top a little differently, as it appears all of your weight will be bearing on screws run in at angles. but for a 10 gallon it should be just fine.

Spread a sheet of 1/2" or better yet 3/4" plywood over the top extending to all four corners and the weight will distribute evenly over the studs to where you wont have the tank resting on the screws.

The top is 3/4 plywood. There is also a center stud (joist if you will) under the top that's not in the first picture of the framing (skeleton). All the studs are connected through the ends using 2 3/4 deck screws. I'm positive it would hold a few thousand pounds...I use to frame houses with my Dad when I was a kid.

Beautiful work, probably overkill for a 37 gallon but very much a quality build.
