It's definitely overkill for a 10, but the stand looks wonderful! Should be great once you upgrade too. \

I would suggest painting/staining it though, if you haven't already. This will make it salt/water-proof.

I bet the stand could easily support a 90 if you lay 2X4s across the top.

    +1

I wouldn't upgrade to even a 29 without doing that mod. Asking all of that weight to be held up by merely screws makes me nervous. I would rather the actual 2x4 hold the weight rather than screws. Just my 2cents

Yeah I have the stain already and I'm going to trim the doors so they look a little more decorative instead of just a couple pieces of plywood. That will have to wait till next weekend though...

Thanks for all the compliments. I knew it was a little overdone but it had to be in order to make room for the sump. I plan on turning that spare 10 into a sump fuge combo and then making a DIY overflow.

Gotta stay busy while I wait for my 29 to finish cycling ;D

ok now i see what you mean about the studs now directly supporting the weight of the tank...simple $2 fix. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm positive it would hold close to 1000lbs but for a sustained duration it would place serious stress on the fasteners. Anyway I've learned...and that's what this site is all about.

    Thanks!

Yep. Like I said, I'm sure it will hold that 10 gallon all day long without a problem. But a 2x4 is always better for support than a screw :)
