    looks good, nothing wrong with overkill. If you look at the stands at the lfs they are made out of 1x6 and 1x8. Those will hold a 250gal. I did the same as you for my 40b

    Yeah, I built mine the same way. It will be skinned with 1/2" maple ply and there will be 1/2" ply on the top and bottom shelves as well. It will be stained with either a clear or colonial maple finish. here it is now.
