I appreciate all the advice and I may go with the eshopps but before I do I wanted to pass a mod by you guys for my old Odyssea and see if you would think it would help.

I have attached a awful crudely outlined in paint picture of what I am talking about.

It would entail putting a L tube on the intake spot to redirect the flow upwards to the top of the skimmer. The intake of the skimmer actually has a piece protruding into the body so you could just attach the piping to that with some silicon.

I guess my real question is will this improve the performance of the skimmer any, as it is the intake is at about the middle of the body and it blasts into the opposite side wall, bubbles go up, down and in every direction.
Would focusing the bubbles upward help skimming? Or do you want that straight shot to the other side letting the bubbles collect all of the sidewall bouncing all around.

I would like to think that odyssea tried what u are trying to do before they put the skimmer on the market n it didn't work as well but then again odyssea isn't known for their groundbreaking products...I'd say try it out see what happens but u should def think about moving on to a better skimmer... Just my two cents

Right now I have a 16 gallon bowfront, but soon all of that will be moved to a 40 breeder. I'm planning all of my future buys on the 40 breeder.

Someone on RC did this mod to a ps75. I believe u want it facing down not up. It was also a pain and required cutting the body apart I think.

Do u have any other mods done to it yet? I have a ps75 I plan on modding but haven't got to it yet. These skimmers work well in sumps that have a constant water level. If the water level evaps it will require constant tweaking.

I never got around to doing it, just a big pain, the skimmer runs good and IMO is worth the cheap price if you don't mind constantly.....and I mean constantly adjusting for water evaporation. I am going to upgrade to a bubble magus HOB when I switch tanks

I think it may help prevent micro bubbles, but it may lesson the performance, since the bublbles would be more directed up toward the top and be in the water column less.
