Tired of you plastic trim of your tank being old and dirty looking? want it a new cooler color? want to do it for around 10 dollars?

LOL but seriously, I bought a 75 gallon tank from craigs list in FL for 75 dollars ;D. Tank was perfect except fot the 80s fake wood stained trim color :( it also had a few hairline cracks that I was concerned about and something had to be done about it. so hears a step by step instruction on how I did it.

step 1: filling in the cracks.

I just bought super glue and filled them in.

I would get some Matte finish Krylon spray paint. My trim will be painted white.

    step 2: sanding

Simple fine grit sand paper will do and smooth out the rises in the super glue or untile it scratched enough for the paint to stick.

    step 3: prep. work

Make sure to get all of the "dust" off of the plastic with a dry brush or water and a paper towel. next comes the most important part, tapeing the tank off.

newspaper worked well for my situation and was free ;D tape was 1.00 tape from the home depot. this is what is should look like when you finish taping it all off.

Make sure not to cover the plastic with the tape or it might show the orgional color.

    step 3: paintig

2 thinks to rember, 1st go slow and cover evenly. 2nd is to buy the better paint!!!! the Dollar a can stuff is crap..... used two cans aand it wouldent cover correctly. went back and spent 5.86 on the krylon plastic fusion stuff and in two coats was good to go.

    Step four: clean up

Remove the tape slowly and after the paint has dried for around 6-8 hours. If you got paint on the glass dont sweat it just take a razor blade and scpare it off the glass like you would anything else.
