ok guys so after alot of deliberating, i went with a paint on water proofer called pond tight, as its used for fish ponds etc i figured it would be ok as some form of protection against moisture on the inside of my hood and all the wood on my stand

I will be starting my hood soon. When I built my stand I put 5 coats inside and outside of poly urathane (satin). I used steel wool between coats to smooth it out. I have spilled/dripped water all on the inside and it just sits there until I wipe it off. I am not sure when I build the canopy what color I will go with on the inside but will probably stain it white to help reflect the light back into the tank.
