Bacteria maturity is the best filter for those two....you can use seachem prime in an emergency but a small spike shouldnt cause any harm...How old is your tank?

Do you have enough rock for your tank size?

Before you do your 30 percent water change check the amonia and nitrites again you might not have to.

Ok I will check them before. I have a 75 gallon tank with about 60-70 lbs of live rock in the display with a 2 inch sand bed. In my refugium I have another 10-15 lbs of live rock and a 2 inch sand bed with 3 inches of newly added rubble on top. I also have a little bit of chaeto and a bio wheel filter/

Sounds like you have enough rock..I wouldnt worry about the little amount you released the bacteria will take care of it. Is it goin to be a reef tank or fish only?. The nitrates are a little high for a reef tank.

It has only ever been a FOWLR. It's a 2 year old tank. After getting the nitrates down I am considering a reef tank
