Hello why I am posting if I have an issue I have recently have moved into a home of my own, after renting for a while. I had to move my 90gal tank that I have had for about 3-4.5 years. While I didn't have a lot of fish ( 1 purple tang) small amount of coral ( Zoas and Green star poylops). In the event of the move I made the decision to go with a barebottom with a small amount of live rock. I replaced the water that i lost in the move with fresh saltwater.
The problem in RED below. I do not dose anything yet. My fish is doing great my GSP are out and huge, zoas are open and well. I wanted to try sps again but my parameters are worrying to me. And i will be adding some pokkini or something like that off of Bulk reef supply tomorrow when it gets in. My problem is i have never seen my kh/alk be so low and my cal be high. Any ideas or tips on what i should do. and how long should i wait till i try my sps frenzy again.
I have dosing and my 2 part coming in tomorrow. Im just confused

Stop dosing Ca until it falls into the range you want. Dose alk until you reach where you want it to be. Mg is in a reasonable place. Test your params before and an hour after adding in a dose to see what change it is creating. Also write down your measurements so you can see what is happening over a week or so and then adjust your dosing to match then needed changes.

You salt could have caused some of the changes if it has settled.

thanks for the reply. I am not dosing anything though. The salt mix I used was Reef Crystals.
I keep everything down in a Excel work sheet from now on. The alk should be here tomorrow and I will start that up, Ill use a cal on BRS.com too see how much I should dose...... now should i just dose at night or go ahead and do it all day>?

The more often you can dose the steadier the parameter and the happier the corals.

Salt mixes separate from shipping and us opening and closing the lids. I think that is where your issue came from.

If I understand correctly, you dosed 1ml per min for 12 hours?

If that's the case, I'm afraid you've severely overdosed.

Test your pH; it's likely sky high. The cloudy is your calcium carbonate precipitating out of the water column since you've exceeded saturation.

Yes, I used the reef cal on Bulk reef supply telling me to dose almost a gallon. I didnt want to add it all at once so i figured that if i spreed it out it would be better for the tank. Although i didnt dose a gallon or even 1/4 of a gallon. Im confused
