The title says it all. Peppermint shrimp has been attacking the center of the Heliofungia by pulling out it's internal tissue. Bummer....

Anybody else seen anything like this? Hell, if they eat aiptasia, what stops them from eyeing coral?

I have seen many people complain about peppermint shrimp picking on/eating their corals. It's the luck of the draw unfortunately. Some do, some don't.

I had a problem with peppermint shrimp doing this to duncans, I had to trap them and put them in the sump because of it. I think they are chasing food that the coral has eaten. I couldn't feed them enough to stop them from going after the food in the coral.
It's also possible that the coral is actually on it's way out and the shrimp was just cleaning it up, but since it was picking at the center of the coral I don't know if that's more likely than the shrimp just going after food.

Also just to comment on the aiptasia vs coral comment, aiptasia are anemones not coral so they're quite different. :)
