so basically the shrimp only had 15 min to get acclimated to temp. before you acclimated to tank water. and when tank water was introduced the shrimp only had 15 mins to get used to that?i think one was hardier than the other and acclimation is the cause of death.

i personally would have done the same thing you were doing but longer. like at least an 45 min of getting used to tank water. 15 min float is fine. this goes for fish as well.

    good luck with future additions.

i actually got a cleaner shrimp yesterday and acclimation took about an hour and a half.. ( kinda took a little longer just to be safe) but 45 mins to an hour is the way to go on shrimp.;D

    My 2 cents:

    1) Inverts are touchy like that. If they bail, it'll be in the first few days.
    2) New new tank, or new-used tank? If someone used copper treatments, you're hosed.
    3) FTW I don't acclimate- I know that's verboten, but I got it from an old poster who used to be on these forums. If the temp is the same I drop 'em in.
    4) I gave up on keeping more than one peppermint shrimp, as they like to mate, and that increases chance of death. one does me just fine.
    5) If it was molting, you'd see a "ghost" shrimp. If it's dead there will still be a bit of color.

    Good luck!

I would highly suggest to any new comer to ignore this statement. Temperature is NOT the only thing one has to worry about when it comes to acclimation (This goes for verts and inverts alike) You must pay attention to not only the temp and salinity, but the chemistry of the water as well. One must remember that there are many elements in our water and each one can affect any member of livestock differently. Also keep in mind that Nitrates differ from tank to tank as well, also affecting livestock.
Please take acclimation seriously and responsibly if you want to be successful.
Now that Im done with my lecture, I had three peps for about a year and a half and they were so fun to watch. Definitely an enjoyable addition.
Did you remove the 'carcass' or leave it in? Just keep an eye out for it incase it just decided to scare you and pop up out of no where. They tend to do so.

well I had 2 of them and the other of the 2 is still alive and continuing on his shrimp vestige. So I am assuming it was a collection of multiple scenarios that cause the other guys untimely death. I am getting a titration system for any future additions into the tank. Thanks everyone for their info and everything...
