I bought three peppermint shrimp since I found a few aiptasia in my 77 gallon. THe next day they were gone. This was about 3 weeks ago and they are definately gone! I have a 33g also and I can see my shrimp in there. I narrowed it down I think to my 6 line wrasse which I have set a trap for. All cleaner shrimps are gone as well and some of my small crabs and snails. Here's what in the tank

    1 Hippo Tang
    1 firefish goby
    1 cardinal Bangai
2 tiny chromis (just after the shrimp were gone)
2 adult convict blennies (3yrs old now)
    2 false perculas
hermits and what's left of an assortment of snails and lots of coral
Am I right to think it's the Wrasse? I would like to dimantel my 33g therefore I wouldl have to transfer my Mandarin and reminder of shrimp to the 77 gallon.

Ive never heard of a six line eating peps....could be they are hiding as they do like to come out more at night. Could it be they died?

I would guess that if anything would do it, it would be the wrasse.

Shrimp are very good hiders, though. They don't like being out too much during the day.

I have a friend that can't keep shrimp from a 6 line killer. I have 2 cleaners and 3 peppermints in my tank and they all come out when ever food or my hand is in the tank. The kinda bug me as I'm usually trying to work in there and they just ride me like a horse. Peppermints are brave in my tank.

that's exaclty what the ones in my 33g are like, the ones I put in the 77g didn't stand a chance, I'm hoping my trap works and he'll get traded for something more docile! thanks

most likle they are either hiding or dead from other causes but I wouldn't be so fast to blame the six line. I would be more inclined to blame the 2 perc's or the hippo's before the six line.

Are you asking if you think your Peppermint shrimp are dead? or if peppermint shrimp are reef safe. I hate them and will never put one in a tank with LPS again.

no, i'm asking if the six line is safe with inverts and tankmates? he seems to be the only one you can see picking on others and he actually bosses the huge female perc which is amazing to watch, he will make her move from her anemone
