    My ph lingers at 8.1 and kh stays 8-9 all the time. I have added seachem marine buffer and it seemed to burn the corals and my feather dusters popped the crowns off the next day. I dont know if anyone has any recomindations for this but id like to pull the ph up slightly and want to get the kh more torwards 10-12. Am I doing something wrong I mix it in saltwater with the ammount stated on the bottle of it? I have used it 3 times in the last 9 months and had the same results each time. My mag is at 1280 calcium is 520 and alk is right on the money. So im confused its stayed at this level for allong time. I have kept up on the wcs and have done one recently so I thought that might change is it raised for about a day and then right back here. sp gravity is 1.026

    Marine Buffer is for FOWLR tanks.

    Reef Buffer and Reef Builder are for Reef tanks.

    Also, mix it with RO/DI water and add any of the above products slowly.

    Part of the problem is your Mag. Get it up to 1400-1500ppm. Cal and Alk work against each other, when cal is high, your alk will be low and visa-versa. The trick to stablize your cal and Alk is to have a good level of Mag. Your some what high Cal is not letting raise your Alk. I hope I made sense. luna

    The alk says on the test im where it should be if I raise the mag its going to also is the kh also alk? I dont want to add worng it took me forever to get it stable where it is. Its stayed at these levels for every it seems but I know its slightly off. What should the ca, mg and alk be at? do you want the alk low? how do I lower the cal? I assume now that I added a handfull of corals that they will help bring this down?

    Ca should be around 450-500, dKH around 7-9 and Mg around 1400-1500 (assuming a reef tank). dKH in FOWLR will be lower and Ca will be higher (since you won't have corals that use the Ca), Mg should be kept the same. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that, I'm still learning too. :)
    It's tough, I had a hard time breaking the "but it's been stable" mentality. Being stable and "correctly stable" are very different. It's a balancing act and it's tough to do it right. Changing one level will impact another, change each gradually and you will be ok.

    It depends on what type of SW tank you have. I have a reef tank and this is where I like to keep my numbers at;
    Temp.......78-79
    Mag......1400-1500ppm
    Cal......420-500ppm
    Dkh......12-14
    PH.......anything above 8.0 is great
    Po4,Nh3,No2 and No3.......0
