holy cow! 8 months?? i would replace them ASAP, your nem more than anything would worry me, a good rule of thumb with pc's is about every 6 months or so. I only had a few pc fixures on the 2.5 gallons i did a while back and noticed a considerable downfall when it hit the 7th month mark on the bulbs. Great looking pictures, just make sure your daughters friend is eating white snow

I'm really not all that familiar with pc's in general, all i can really say is stay away from Coralife... talk about POS bulbs... those are just about the worst IMO.

no problem buddy. When are you gonna upgrade? I heard you were thinking of a TEK fixture... i wish i had that kind of money! and what kind of bulbs are you thinking? I would highly recommend the D-D Giessemanns, i love the actinics i got from them and i just ordered the AquaBlue+ along with the UVL 14K.

Well, I am gonna get though Christmas, then pay some medical bills. After that, I am looking at the 8x54W Tek array. UVL bulbs. I want the 4xactinics and probably 4 in the 16000K range. I want more of a blue look to the tank. And it will make the corals (and fish) coloration pop.

I got the UVL 10k and was very disappointed to say the least with the color, people say its great for growth so i might use those on the 18g frag tank I'm about to put up... I never saw a 16k bulb from them...?? maybe not in the 22 inch bulbs..?

4 UVL 54W Super Actinic T5 HO Fluorescent

Yeah....I dig the blue. I am probably going to go at least 4x14000K and 4xtrue actinic. I may even go higher. 16000K to 18000K. Haven't made up my mind. Probably a mixture of the above. I am not going any lower than 14000K for sure. My original thought was 2x16000k, 2x18000K and 4xtrue actinic. We'll see.......
