How do you know when to change the media or do you have to replenish it?

there is a recommended time use, I forget if it's 30 or 90 days, I typically change my media on the PO4 and Ca reactor every 90 days

The simple answer, IMO, to when to change the media....either when you start to measure phosphates in your tank, or when you start to see algae growing, which ever comes first. I have found so far that I can generally get substantially more life out of the media than they say on the package (remember, they want to sell more media).

I also use the 2lf`s reactor with the media from bulk reef(got a 2 pund bag fairly cheap).its fed from the return using a "Y".one less pump to worry about. I change it out (as stated above) when i notice algae poping up...
