I have another question about this!

I have an extra 4 stage RO/DI unit that I dont really use much.

Could I potentially take that unit, bypass the membrane and just use the 3 canisters for this purpose?

So I would find a way to pump in water to it with a valve to control the flow. In the first canister I could put carbon, the second could have Rowa Phos, and the third could have some de-nitrate stuff. Then exit out the other end into the sump.

Do you think thats something that can be done? Is it worth attempting and if so...what do you think I would need to do it? Do they make an adapter to go from that tubing to a pump?

    thanks!

Seems like it should...i dont see why not. I just want to get some confirmation on it before I go ahead and try it.

I also need to figure out a pump, fittings, etc... I may be able to drive it off of my main pump once its in...I have a 5 port manifold going on it. then I can use a ball valve to control the flow.

Like I said....I wonder if anyone's done this and if so can they post instructions or pictures?

    yes brs does

Yes brs uses ro systems for reactors. In fact I just purchased two of them this week along with their media of carbon and gfo. I know several people who love their products. here is a link so you can see them GFO and Carbon Reactors - English

I don't think it would be to hard to make your own if you have to parts allready good luck.

I did try to watch the video but it kept freezing at around 2:00....so that is why I posted some more questions about it.

I will attempt to watch it again now!

So basically your saying its not the best way to do this....so does that mean the products from BRS are not a good way to go?

GFO requires tumbling to keep from solidifying. The flow required to tumble the GFO will pulverize the softer GAC if it is placed inline before the GFO.

I just run a second TLF 150 packed to the top with carbon. Just chain them together. Through the GFO then the Carbon, then back to the tank or sump.

Check out the Nextreef mr1 media reactor at marinedepot much nicer than the tlf and not much more money.
