Does anyone have any experience with seachem phosphate and silicate remover? I put it in the skimmer box of my remora yesterday afternoon and then at night i noticed my two clown fish stuck to the intake of my canister filter. I lowered the flow and they came off, then i removed the phosphate remover from the skimmer box and it looked like they started to feel better. I think i had too little flow running through the skimmer box for the phosphate stuff? has anyone had this happen to them? All other parameters were exelent. This morning they are still alive. Should i put the phosphate remover back in my canister this time? I dont want to kill the fish.

Yeah, i bought some PO4 remover, but i'm a little nervous to use it because of any other effects this product might have in my tank other than taking out phosphates. Maybe someone else here has some empirical data for you.

I've used Seachems Phosguard for years w/out problem. I do make sure I rinse it very well before I put it in the tank and I do put it in an area of "high" flow. I did notice when I started using it again just recently that I had a "dust" on the surface of the water, could be a coincidence as it never happened before-and I'm getting all the end of the summer lady bugs falling in the tank as well so they could also explain some of it.
Back on subject though, at least for me I've never had issues but like anything in reefing, what works for me might or might not work for you

    Good luck
    Joe

I tried Phos-zorb once, and 3 days later my nitrates went through the roof. Not totally saying thats what caused it, but it only happened that once and hasn't happened yet again after I stopped running it, so I will never use it again. I currently use a liquid solution called Phophat-e, by brightwell aquatics, and it works well.

I ran it in my canister filter with no effects other than removed phosphates. Seems to work for me with no draw backs.

I use Phosphat-E as well.....about once weekly. It does work well and it is reef safe. Great product.

Hi, I use them both and no neither will remove trace elements.
