    Not true at all. That's like saying Aragonite, Dolomite, and Calcite are all the same just because they are all CaCO3.

    I can't speak to the Pura phoslock because it didn't exist at the time but there was a study in Germany to determine the best media for cleaning up one of their lakes that was eutrophic. That's where Rowaphos won hands down. RowaPhos - why waste your money? | The Aquarium Solution Deltec wisely jumped on this free advertising.

    Even though I know Julian, I find that phosban is more dusty and lasts less time than most Iron Oxide medias. I prefer Pura phoslock over it due to this. It is definitely less friable.

    O.k. I think you are speaking to the granular size and contact time, I did read that the pellet FO is less effective. However, the products mentioned I believe are all of the finer, almost sand size with the one you mentioned almost a powder. All this goes toward it's effectiveness which, they all are Ferric Oxide, and all do the same thing, but, as you pointed out, the powder doesn't last as long, however, this doesn't diminish its' effectiveness.
