We live about one hour south of San Antonio, Texas and when we want to go shopping or something we have to drive to do it. My parents both work in San Antonio so I asked my mother if she would go to one of the fish stores in S.A. for me to pick out a fish and beginner coral for my new tank. She went a came home with a Star Polyp attached to a piece of live rock with two other smaller corals that are really small to identify right now (fish store guys are so nice, he gave it to her for the price of just the Star Polyps), a Fire Shrimp and two Picasso Clowns!

My question is, is it normal for them to be swimming along the top of the aquarium? or is there something wrong? I didn't see them much when they were in the bag, but before I started acclimating them I noticed they were doing something similar in the bag, although I didn't really look at them much when they were in the bags (just acclimated them and put them in). Could they have been stressed from the long time they spent in the bags? (30 min drive through S.A. plus the hour drive home, and the acclimation).

    Please help!

could be that, how old and big is your system? if you haven't done so already i would suggest pointing a powerhead towards the surface to promote gas exchange.

yes, you want to increase the oxygen. Clowns are very interesting fish. Their behavior is kind of unpredictable which makes them interesting. Their behavior can also change and that's normal for clowns :)

More info on your setup would help. How clean is your water? Did it just cycle? How old is your tank?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but after reading your other intro post your tank is far too small for 2 clowns. 7.5 gallons is extremely small and I don't even know if its large enough for 1 clown. Best of luck on your current setup and always ask lots of questions, lots of knowledgeable people here to help.

My 2 percula clowns in my 75 always hang out at the top of the tank. I have a lot of flow and surface movement. My percs are the only fish that do this. They did the same in my 125 before that as well. Just silly clown fish doing there normal behavior.

    *deep breaths*

While it's not recommended, and eveyone yells at me for it, as long as you don't add any more fish, your clowns will be okay until you get something more suitable. You'll want to upgrade soon anyway, everyone does after a few months.
