I'm not suggesting the dimming for sunrise/sunset, but so the light isn't too intense for your corals. 7 LEDs would be 21 watts over just 5 gallons of water.

A Boost par30 is 5 LEDs (run a 2w each) and is plenty for keeping corals at the bottom of my 29 gallon.

    2.7 gallons :-/
I was just going to mount it really high. Maybe a par bulb is a better idea, what's your opinion on this Seano?

    That was my estimate. :p

It sounds like a Boost par30 will give you the best color and be the most economical purchase for you. Get an architect's lamp at an office store or IKEA if you don't have one already and put the bulb in that.

Already have a lamp, never heard of a par20 before.
EDIT: I guess you meant par30, lol

I don't know if you decided on the par30 bulb or DIY yet. If it helps, I have 5 Cree LEDs over my 3 gallon pico about 13" from the bottom of the tank without optics. I have a crocea clam that is doing awesome under them.
