Saw this beautiful fish in the store and had to have it. Did a little in store research on the Iphone and said I'll take it.
There was three huge Pink Square Anthias. I got the smaller one that is about 5 inches... The big one was 6-7 and most places I find info says they don't get that big.. but there they were.
I've been looking for a splash of color and he really ads it. I would have took them all if they didn't morph into females.
I've been considering an Anthias anyway at one of the other stores.. bartletts and other smaller Anthias. Never really heard of a Pink square until I saw this one. Main drawback is they're supposed to be fed 2-3 times a day.
Now if I could find some equally colorful corals. hehe

I love pick squares, they are my favorite species of anthia. They have several of them in the 20,000 gallon reef tank at my local aquarium (Atlantis Marine World Aquarium). To my memory I feel like some of them were at least 7", maybe more. But those are optimal growing conditions.

    They are beautiful fish.

Definitely a beautiful fish. I love anthias and would love to set up a huge tank for a school of them. They really do much better with a harem of females so if you can get some, add 2 or more.

yeah... I'm really thinking about going back and get the others. . I think I'd e have to get rid of my green chromis. May be getting too many fish at that point cuz they're big.

I recently added 2 females and 1 male anthias to my 85g. They almost stick out more than anything in my tank. They were really sketchy around us at first and couldnt get them to get to the food fast enough before the other fish got it. But now they have warmed up to me. These are the reasons its nice to have liquid food readily available. Good luck

Yeah, this exact anthias is what I was planning for my new tank - one male and three females. Great looking fish. Good job.

I try not to think about it, but I guess it does :D I mean come on, look at his little face. It's got a cute little fishy characteristic to it.

That's a really great mix/number. One female wouldn't be enough to keep the male happy and two might not be enough :D

I had a pair of llyretail anthias but with all my recent tank woes, I now only have the female. I'll probably add a male and a few more females once things settle down in there.
