    Yes it probably does reach upwards of 5000°K (>8500°F). The sun is around 5700°K. The temperature isn't really important, same as rusting steel reaches which temperatures of 5000+ degrees. The number that would really matter is BTU, which in either case is infinitesimally small, hence the oceans aren't boiling and nails don't cause houses to burst into flames.
