I got a pistol shrimp this weekend and I was under the impression that he burrowed a hole and lived in it, but the one i got is digging one side of the tank apart. Im worried that he may knock over the rock. i want to catch him and bring him back to the store. i assume this is going to be very hard, but what i was thinking was taking a soda bottle and cutting off the top part and then flipping it over and putting it back in the other half and attaching it w/ fishing line and putting some kind of bait inside. does this sound like a good idea and if so what is the best bait to use.

You can put a water glass at an angle near the shrimp that has weighted bait in the bottom. Rubber band a piece of shrimp to a rock.

The shrimp will get in, but the tall "slippery" sides will be harder for it to get out. Cover the top and extract from the tank. You may have some other critters in the glass but just return them to the tank.[/b]

thanks for the fast reply craig ill try that tonight. i guess you mean angle the cup so that when it goes into the cup its on a down hill and it will not be able to climb out, right.

i replaced it w/ another cleaner shrimp. there my favorite i have a couple of shrimp but its the only one that is usually visable, and when i put my hand in the tank it comes up and tries to eat parasites from my hand. so personable

its kind of funny to get him out i had to remove a piece of rock from the back of the tank that he was hiding in. i removed him so he wouldnt knock over rocks w/ his digging but when i went to put the rock back i knocked over the rock myself. just some dramatic irony for ya. i was up all night setting it back up the way i had it and epoxying it.
