I bought a candy pistol shrimp on Sunday to buddy up with my goby. I haven't heard or seen him since. Can everyone please send some good thoughts this way to make sure he is ok? He was a tiny little guy and I made sure when I brought him home that he made it to the bottom of the tank and into some rocks without anyone bugging him so I hope he is ok!:-/

Was it that tiny one John had in the little tank? I'm sure it's fine. Let us know if you see it.

Probably will hear it before you see it...

    re: (posted here many times...)

In fact you may never see it again.

I am pretty certain I have had one in tank for years from the "popping" noise I
hear frequently (mostly at night)...but have never seen it.

May also explain couple of "unexplained" shrimp losses.

Yes it is the one from John's. Not the really tinyone but the next tiny one.

OmarD--So now you are telling me with that youtube that he is going to eat my cleaner shrimp. I thought he would eat the little bugs not the big bugs. He was cheaper than my cleaner shrimp....just great. I guess I will wait to see what happens! Will he eat my snails and Hermies?

normally when shrimp/crabs are first added to a new tank, they tend to molt - so he is prob just hiding somewhere safe to do so.

A pistol shrimp will only snap when threatened or hunting so if you haven't heard it snap, it doesn't mean that it's "gone". Also, these shrimp are very shy so until/unless it pairs up with your goby, you may never see it.
