From what I can tell it is a brown Tiger Pistol and it is about 1.5-2 inches. I hear him at night but he has not found my shrimp goby yet...hopefully the 2 will meet! Otherwise I spent money on something that will never come out of my rocks and I will never see (he he he) He has some 180lbs of rock to go through right now! But it is cool...
My mantis and him click to each other from seperate rooms!

    Simular question

OK, I might need some advise.

I purchased some coral via the mail. Got some nice Ricordea and a large watermelon eagle eye rock. I found this HH with the eagle eye. I am guessing its a pistol shrimp. Size is about 3/4 inch for the body (head to tail). Currently the tank I had planned for him is Liverock and and other simular soft corals as mentioned above. My cleaners are blue leg hermits, a couple large peanut worms, and common fireworms. No fish but have been thinking of adding one or two.

Any advise would be greatful. What fish could be added? How big will the shrimp get? Is it a threat to current inhabitants?

I love my pistol shrimp and goby, they are perfect and definitely a good addition to the reef. if people have had bad experiences with loosing inverts like other shrimp, its prob because they had a really big pistol shrimp compared to the other shrimp, also the other shrimp was probably ill or weak. my shrimp is less than 2"
Here is a pic of the species that are in my tank

I've had a pistol shrimp/yellow watchman goby pair for 3 years now - they are favorites! Amazing duo, those two. :)
