Drying the rock will cause everything on the rock to die. Though it dies, it is still on there. When you put it back in the tank, it will decompose, releasing substances like ammonia. Yes I will put a rock like this in my tank, but my tank is 90g and can handle it. This tank has only 4g of water, and looks far from established. Putting rocks with dead matter on them in this tank will cause a cycle and there is no doubt about it. The cycle may lead to the death of any livestock in the tank.

To the OP, your best bet is to remove the rock, and get new live rock from someone you know and trust. All you need is one small piece. You can obtain some dry rock and use the live rock to seed it.

You may also go with the original plan of demolishing that one polyp of aiptasia, but just be aware that the problem may get out of control. On the other hand, you may get lucky and kill the only polyp for good.

A third option would be to dry the rock (bake it, put it in the sun, or whatever), then re-cycle your tank.

...any chemical added to your system should be used with caution...especially a small tank...just do a few at a time....JMO..

It only takes 1cc and it a natural method not really a chemical. 1 cc should not effect the ph, if it does use buffer accordingly.

I have had bouts with both aiptasia and majano. Never had more then 3 at once. I keep on them fast. Every time I injected them directly with pure lemon juice using a diabetic needle. Very small amount. once injected they will start to fiz. The lemon juice will stay kinda thick in saltwater since its gravity is much heaver. Inject straight thru the top then a couple times over the body. again you will use the smallest amount. not polluting the water around it. It will shrivel deep into its hole and apear as if burned. Tommorow there will be nothing there at all. The lemon juice burns too fast for spores to be released.
Don't boil a rock over one aiptasia, you might have other good hitchhikers on it.
