I just recently (again, for like the 10th time) took all my rock out (didnt have coral then) and scrubbed all the algae clean. It looked good for a while but now the algaes starting to come back. I know why that is. Its because i use tap water and right now i dont have the money to stop using it so i was looking into a phosphate reactor. Do you think that will help reduce the algae? I havent tested for them but im darn sure their in there.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

It's not necessarily the tap water... I used tap for a year... (it probably is though).

You should test for it before you do anything (particularly if money is tight, you don't want to spend it on the wrong thing). Invest in the test first.

Could also be an inadequate clean up crew (go here to fix: ReefCleaners.org | Clean Up Crews and Macro Algae - Home), over feeding, too much light (does the sun ever get this tank?).

Look into reducing nitrates too... might be that and a refugium with some macro aglae might be an easier solution (maybe)...

    just some thoughts.
