I believe it is sponge. A lot times when you turn over rocks or redo the scape you find these patches of sponge.

i am going with sponge, i have a few of the spaghetti worms but this is almost translucent and white like a sponge.

can alot of spaghetti worms harm my tank? i think i have 3 to 5 that i see come out and clime the walls of the tank and crawl over the rocks.

It just looks like white threads to me. Sorry, pic's a bit blurry. As far as the sponges, I've only seen them grow in patches, starting small and then growing and spreading to other areas. But these may be a different sponge type then.
    Sorry, I tried ;)

Don't mean to be intrusive but how do you know if a sponge on LR is dead? When I introduced some of my rock it had sponges on it. Some white, some orange. I was under the assumption that they die as soon as they touch open air. They're still on the rock...

While that is true for some sponges, not all sponges are that delicate. All they need is a very small pieces and they can grow back under the right conditions.
