I was wondering... Since i have a cadlight system, i dont have any room for an overflow. Could i do a reactor configuration and have a pump taking water out and the same exact pump putting water back in? i want to setup a refugium under my tank (just a small 2 or 5 gallon) and i wanted to know if that would work or fail miserably. Please get back to me!

    thanks

Why are you wanting to add a refugium?

Unless you can put the refugium above the display tank, in which case you could drill the refugium, I don't see any other option but to drill the tank or put an overflow box on.

If you're just doing a reactor like this BRS GFO and Carbon Reactor Bulk Reef Supply you might be able to just run the reactor with a little larger pump to get the water to come back up from the reactor below.

I tried the two pump thing on my 24 gallon with a 20 gallon refugium it was hell. I bought two of the same pumps but it seemed like everyday the water levels differed and had to be adjusted. Also once the power went off and the return line started to empty back into my refugium, luckily I was there or it would have overflowed. I would say don't do it.

Would an external hang on refugium work in your tank?

I have a small CPR refugium I want to offload.
