While at my lfs getting things to set up my new pico tank, I discovered my lfs sells only 20lb bags of live sand, which needless to say leaves me with PLENTY of sand left after putting 1.5 inches in a five gallon cube... So, Im gonna set up an amphipod farm in a 7 gallon tub, using chaeto, and live rubble, and judging by past experiences, the pods will be breeding like rabbits in no time, but I'm puzzled as to how to transfer the pods into my DT. Perhaps some bio balls for the pods to cling to? Any input will be helpful! Thanks!

I have heard of people using those poofy things for taking showers with.Just put one in the pod farm over night and the next day put in the tank.Leave it in there for a few hours or 1 day and remove. Then rinse and repeat.

Chaeto would probably be your best option.

I've used regular sponges (just make sure they don't have an antimicrobial coating, shower "poofs" and Chaeto. All work but my best success has been with regular sponges.

The pods didn't seem to want to leave the Chaeto (food source + protection) and they would get deep inside the poofs. This can be solved by vigorous shaking of either.

you could just set up the tub as a refugem that will circulate to your tank....or maybe a sump w/refugem?
