Something that is never mentioned on "species profiles/care sheets" for these fish, is, they puff up. Sometimes they puff up and grab a little bit of air, which, may require assistance. They are slow and clumsy. They are messy eaters. They are susceptible to ich and other external parasites. More than alot of other fish. They are IMO for more experienced aquarists.

This is a great point phoenix!!!!! Alot to touch on.

These fish have tons of personality which is why a lot of people buy them.Unfortunately they quickly outgrow most peoples tanksand either the fish suffers in a too small home or the owner has to give them up.Either way the fish suffers as a suitable home for a large porkupine is not easy to find. There are other puffers such as the Valentini puffer that have a lot of personality and dont grow very large, you should check them out.Hope this helps,Dave

    Hey lil Puff

Hey man be cautious with the puffer fish. They eat anything they can get their mouths on and also eat a LOT!

I suggest some small colorful reefsafe fish for you. I PROMISE you will get more enjoyment out of them than a Puffer.

Also when setting up your tank tell your mom or dad to get themselves some TURBO 900. (link below about the product)
    https://www.fritzzyme.com/fritz-zyme-900/

This stuff will allow you to add fish and stuff 3 hours after you set up your tank.
This does the cycling for you so you don't have to wait 5 weeeks to add anything.

    Good Luck Future Reefer!!!

the mfgs of the above product accept no claims for the loss of any fish added within 3 hours of setting up your tank
