It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sounds like a bristle/fireworm. Was the blue strip iridenscent.

Those kinda ugly guys got a bad rap a couple of decades ago and it has never gone away. They are an excellent addition to cuc and do a better job of cleaning the detritus out of the hard to reach place, than hermits IMO.

    IME fireworms are great!!!

Only if you overfeed will you have a problem with them - and people that overfeed will have a slew of problems - they will somehow find evidence to blame fireworms!!!

They limit their own population - they rarely overproduce. They will only produce as much as there is extra food/nutes. So if you feed too much - you get too many fireworms and other pests. If you are on an acceptable feeding schedule - these guys are invaluable additions to the CUC, and some of them are actually REALLY colorful!!!

My Royal Gramma seems to have a taste for them as we always see it with bristleworm spines sticking out of it's mouth.

I had a red and white fire worm I havent seen it in a while but I do see the bristle worms sometimes. Its funny when you get live rock how many come out when the rock is out of the water for a bit. I think we all have a few of them somewhere just dont see them all that often.
